Brooklands Museum Visit on SATURDAY 9th of October
9th Oct 2010
9/10/2010
As has been previously advertised, Committee member Dave Hueston is again organising a Club day trip to the Brooklands Museum. We had a great visit there last year with a good turnout of members and their cars. Part of the original circuit still remains and we were able to park our cars on the famous banking and use this for a photo shoot.
The museum itself displays a wide range of Brooklands related motoring and aviation exhibits ranging from giant racing cars, motorcycles and bicycles to a huge collection of Hawker and Vickers/BAC built aircraft, including the only Concorde with public access in South East England. There are aviation exhibits covering both world wars and the post war years. There is also a large exhibition of grand prix racing cars in one of the hangars that is increasing in size monthly.
The museum is open from 10.00 a.m. until 5.00 p.m. and the full address is,
Brooklands Museum,
Brooklands Road,
Weybridge,
Surrey KT13 0QN
Telephone: 01932 857381 Ext 221
Once again Dave is negotiating a concessionary admission charge for us and this is likely to be around £8.00 per Adult, Senior Citizens and Students £6.00 and Children (under 16) £4.00. There are adequate refreshments on site and also the Brooklands Museum shop.
Also adjacent to the Brooklands Museum is the famous Mercedes Museum which Club members will have the opportunity to visit and admission here is free. The Mercedes Museum has a huge exhibition of Mercedes cars from the past to the present plus loads of related Mercedes memorabilia. There is a handling circuit where you can see the latest models being tested to the limits plus there are driving simulators where you can put your driving skills to the test.
Last year many members spent so long looking around the Brooklands exhibits they never got as far as the Mercedes Museum so if you were one of them then do join us again this year, and go around the Mercedes Museum first this time.
