Club Alpine Renault held its 20th Anniversary Dinner at the four-star Whittlebury Hall Hotel near Silverstone on Saturday 25th July. A happy group of members, many of whom joined at the inaugural meeting of the club on 30th July 1989, enjoyed an excellent meal. Guest speaker Ed McDonough, journalist and motoring historian, provided an amusing finale to a very pleasant occasion after a wonderful day in the sunshine at the superb Silverstone Classic race meeting, where the club had a stand that attracted some 56 cars over the three days. Any anniversary is worthy of celebration, but 20 years is indeed an achievement. After the foundation of the club, membership rose quickly to around 200 fully paid-up members and that level is still maintained today, demonstrating that the love of Alpines is still very much alive. Here’s to the next 20 years!
